Ocean Cure is a 501c3 non-profit organization based out of Carolina Beach, NC. Our heart is to improve the quality of life for people with challenges and disabilities beach accessibility and adaptive surfing.

What We Do

For well over a decade, we have served thousands of participants and families who face life challenges and disabilities. In the process, we’ve made Carolina Beach, NC one of the most handicap accessible boardwalks on the East Coast.

We believe there is no beach that we cannot make accessible and we want every single person to understand that there is no obstacle that they cannot overcome.

  • We offer beach wheelchairs free of charge for anyone who needs them. Simply complete our reservation form and our team will take care of the rest.

  • Our athletes have experienced a wide range of hardships — whether it’s PTSD or injuries from time serving our country overseas, spinal chord injuries, or other disabilities.

    Adaptive surfing, supported by our trained volunteers and professional instructors, helps to elevate what’s possible for all participants.

  • Along with Beach Wheelchairs, we also have Beach Walkers available for use during your stay in Carolina Beach. When you are completing the reservation form, please leave a comment regarding your need for a Beach Walker. Beach Walker rentals are free of charge.

  • Each year, our amazing volunteers layout beach mats to make visits to the beach more accessible for all. Our mats are currently located by the Courtyard Marriott and Alabama Ave. We also have plans to have a third mat down at Cape Fear Blvd in the near future. Beach mats are seasonal and are subject to removal during storms.

Carolina Beach Surf Cam

Thanks to the Town of Carolina Beach, the Carolina Beach Parks & Recreation, and so many other generous donors, we are able to provide a live surf cam from the Carolina Beach boardwalk for your viewing pleasure.
